Infirmary
The Spanish introduced many new diseases to the Chumash people. They had almost no resistance to measles and smallpox and many of them died. The mission had two infirmary buildings.

Animal Yard
La Purisima depended on animals for food, hides, wool, milk, tallow, transportation and work. Caring for the animals was essential for the survival of the mission residents. They raised a rich variety of animals.
